Description - This is a stunning vintage Margot De Taxco ornate sterling silver clamper fish bracelet. It is exquisitely detailed and masterfully crafted.The use of fish in her designs must have been one of Margot's favorites. Some other fish designs are Plump Fish, Leaping Fish, Circle Fish, Sailfish, Smiling Fish, and Flowing Fish.
Probably most recognized of all is the one on the cover of Penny Morrill's book, Margot Van Voorhies The Art of Mexican Enamelwork called "Fish in the Waves". The one listed here would have been one of her earlier designs as it is numbered "5207" and called "Faceted Fish". The matching necklace is shown on page 59 of Penny Morrill's book, Margot Van Voorhies The Art of Mexican Enamelwork.
The fish are very detailed with scales on the fish and surrounded by bubbles. As so, this would be an excellent addition to your silver collection. Size - The bracelet is 2 1/8' in diameter and 8' round.The design on the front from fish head to fish head is 4. Weight is approximately 107 grams. Condition - No dents in the silver. Minor scratches in the silver and are actually desired in vintage sterling silver. Hallmarked - It is fully hallmarked. "Margot de Taxco", "5207", an Eagle 16 assay mark. Also made in Mexico, Sterling.
